A guide to the shrines, temples and sacred places that people locally associate with a particular kind of blessing — and, more to the point, an account of where each of those associations actually comes from. Every cultural claim carries a named source and an evidence level saying whether it rests on historical record, local tradition, current practice, or recent popular association. Coverage spans Japan and South Korea.
Small services for different tastes
LumenTree is an independent studio. We don't push one right answer. We build things that people with different tastes and interests will find useful, one at a time, and run them ourselves.
What we run today
Two services, both built and maintained by LumenTree.
A free breathing timer. A circle expands and contracts through inhale, hold, exhale and hold, at whatever pace you set, with the phases and their labels fully adjustable. No account and no install; your settings are saved only in your browser, and usage statistics can be turned off in the settings. Published in Korean, Japanese and English.
How we work
Cultural claims come with sources. We collect only the data we need. Ads run on the individual services, never on this site.
